About the Job

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Cyber Security Operations Engineer to take ownership of our operational security program. In this critical role, you will manage and enhance the organisation's security operations by identifying, implementing, and monitoring security controls to protect critical assets and maintain a strong security posture.

This is a hands-on technical role where you will work collaboratively with technical and business teams to align security practices with regulatory requirements, streamline processes through automation and AI, and continuously improve the organisation’s security capabilities.

 

What Your Day Will Look Like

  • Operational Security Ownership: Take responsibility for the organisation’s operational security, defining technical strategies, setting priorities, and ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and business objectives.
  • Develop and Implement Security Controls: Design, implement, and manage technical security controls to protect assets, address vulnerabilities, and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Monitor and Optimise Performance: Create and maintain metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of security controls, monitor performance, and implement continuous improvements.
  • Technical Problem Solving: Apply expertise in identity management, email security, endpoint protection, cloud security, and threat mitigation. Optimise security tools through scripting, automation, and AI to drive efficiency and scalability.
  • Collaboration: Work with technical teams, business units, and external vendors to solve security challenges and implement technical solutions aligned with organisational goals.
  • Risk Communication: Break down complex security risks into actionable insights for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Reporting: Provide clear and detailed updates on security performance, risks, and technical improvements to internal stakeholders.

Job Description

Enough About Us, Let’s Talk About You

  • Experience: 7+ years in a similar role or with comparable technical experience, demonstrating a proven ability to manage and enhance operational security.
  • Technical Expertise: 
    • Strong knowledge of operational security, identity management, email security, cloud security, and endpoint protection.
    • Hands-on experience with automation and scripting to optimise processes.
    • Proficiency or familiarity with Microsoft 365 Security, Microsoft Defender for Cloud, Azure, Terraform, ZScaler, Azure WAF, and Azure DevOps.
  • Collaboration Skills: Ability to work effectively with technical teams, business stakeholders, and external partners to implement solutions.
  • Certifications: Microsoft Security Certifications (e.g., SC-100, SC-200, SC-300, SC-400, SC-900) and/or relevant industry certifications such as CISSP, CISA, or equivalent.
  • Education: Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Cyber Security, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Skills:
    • Exceptional problem-solving and analytical capabilities.
    • Strong communication skills to convey technical concepts effectively.
    • A proactive approach with a passion for leveraging automation, AI, and continuous improvement.
