We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Team Leader – Tax to provide inspirational leadership and drive excellence in tax governance, compliance and advisory services across our Australian and New Zealand operations. This is a pivotal role for a proactive professional who thrives in a collaborative environment and is passionate about continuous improvement.

Job Description

  • Designing, implementing and maintaining clear processes, procedures and controls that deliver effective tax governance and risk management.
  • Leading the preparation, review, and timely lodgement of all tax compliance obligations including Corporate Tax, GST, WHT, and FBT.
  • Managing income tax calculations and tax effect accounting for statutory reporting.
  • Providing strategic and technical tax advice on business operations, new projects, funding structures, acquisitions, and investments.
  • Overseeing related party transactions and tax implications within the Group.
  • Managing relationships with external tax advisors to ensure cost-effective and high-quality advice.
  • Documenting tax flows within accounting and tax consolidated groups.
  • Building strong relationships across the Finance team to support effective reporting and operations.
  • Leading and motivating team members, managing performance through KPIs and qualitative objectives.
  • Conducting complex tax research and preparing guidance documents.
  • Driving process improvements and maintaining a robust tax compliance framework.
  • Collaborating with other departments to enhance business processes and risk management.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will bring a blend of technical expertise, leadership capability, and a commitment to excellence.

You will have:

  • Proven experience in a senior tax role, ideally with leadership responsibilities.
  • Strong knowledge of Australian and New Zealand tax legislation and compliance requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide strategic and technical tax advice across a range of business activities.
  • Strong understanding of tax governance and risk management frameworks, ideally in the context of a listed entity environment.
  • Experience managing external advisors and internal stakeholders.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify opportunities and implement improvements.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a collaborative and inclusive leadership style.
  • A commitment to fostering a high-performance culture aligned with organisational values
